For the money I would have expected a better design. It’s nice to look at but has some shortcomings. The craft is difficult to clean. Unless you have hands the size of a 7 year old you’re gonna need a bottle brush or equivalent. The flip side is that it does keep the coffee hot for an extended period of time. Cleaning after every pot is a huge pain. It has way too many parts and things that need washing (see pic). The taste of the coffee required experimentation with grind setting and strength but it only took a few tries to dial it in. Overall impression is just average. A bit too complicated and too many parts to clean is my biggest complaint.

This is an amazing coffee pot. Fresh, great tasting cofffee with many options, can adjust strength and amount. Takes whole beans or ground coffee.

Good coffee maker, generally. A few things about it that could be better. 1) it is high, so you need to pull it out from under the counter to fill it with beans and water 2) on 12 oz setting, it overflows making a mess on the counter.

Not just the easiest to use coffee maker, but outstanding quality of the roast.

Its a good concept, but coffee is never strong enough.

This is the worst coffee maker I have ever owned. To start off with the coffee filter compartment doesn’t stay closed when you start the machine, grinds everywhere. Second it never makes the same amount of coffee 2 times in a row. I have it set on 12 oz , This thing will be replaced as soon as I can afford a good machine.

First unit kept over flowing cups and wouldnt shut off. Exchanged for a sexond unit that stopped griding after a month. Total waste if time. Look elsewhere.

Watery coffee everytime. Beans dont automatically fall into grinder. Its a lot of work for the price, and bad quality

This coffee maker is not good at all. The grind setting is minimal and it doesn’t keep all grinds in the basket. Very poorly designed by Breville. I’ve purchased a number of their products and this is by far my least favorite.

I adjust the machine for the most potent brew possible, and the coffee is still weak. The grinder jams frequently.

So far it’s brewing great coffee. I really like the way you can dial in a good cup of joe. It’s not hard at all to figure out. I like that it can grind and brew up to 12 cups all the way to an 8oz cup.grind is not as loud as others I’ve owned.

Couldn’t be happier with this new coffee maker. We get our whole coffee beans from a shop in Pittsburgh and I noticed the difference with this machine and how much better it tastes I love all the bells and whistles. Great purchase.

Love the bean grinder. There is a little more work compared to traditional coffee pots, “ie like cleaning” but it’s definitely for it

Makes great coffee!!! I recommend good quality coffee beans for the best results. Some review suggest it takes to much work to clean after each brewing, however, I find it takes me 2-3 minutes tops, and that is being VERY thorough! Very much worth it in my opinion.

It works very well as expected. Grinds and brews with nice customization on grind size and brew strength. Rinse the basket and basket shoot holder after each use and dry. Not sure why others reported difficulty. Just follow the directions, makes a great cup every time with ease. Only negatives: 1. needs the carafe/cup preheated with hot water if you prefer your coffee on the hotter side, and 2. The carafe design leaves a little coffee in the pot. Otherwise, probably one of the best grind and brews available.

Amazing fresh brew coffee. Love how it grind down coffee bean

Coffee is weak regardless of adjustments made. Only way to get strong coffee is to override the grind feature.
Cleaning basket and shoot after each use is time consuming.

The Good: Nice burr grinder, nice display and options to make a single cup through a pot.
The Bad: everything else.
1. Coffee maker doesn’t fit under standard sizes cupboards. There is a protruding knob that makes it too tall.
2. Thermal Carafe opening is so small no reasonably sized hand can fit in it to clean. It also has a weird lip that makes it very hard to empty.
3. Pouring the coffee out of the carafe is very very slow. Like almost trickle slow.
4. Coffee in carafe immediately after brewing is warm, not hot. The instructions in the book say to preheat the carafe with warm water. Newsflash: anyone who wants to use the auto timer, so they don’t have to get up to make coffee in the morning cannot preheat the carafe. Is this defeats the purpose of the auto timer.
5. There is no heating element to keep the coffee hot. The thermal carafe is supposed to keep it hot. Refer to point #4.
6. The brew basket leaks drops across your floor when you remove it to empty and clean it. Every time. It also has a weird chute piece that holds debris so you have to make sure you don’t miss it when cleaning it.
I love Breville typically, but they really have done a poor job with this coffee maker. A redesign is needed. I returned mine and I’m going back to the Cuisinart burr Grinder and coffee maker.

We are so enjoying this combination of a coffee bean grinder and brewer! It produces great coffee in a full size carafe!

Great tasting coffee. Easy to use.
Not so easy to clean. And as far as I know, no way to customize the amount of grinds produced per preset water setting.

Worth every penny spent on it. Solid measurments from the selection of the grinder and the taste scale allows you to choose how mild to strong you want your coffee.

Not as user friendly or is easy as the other reviews make it sound. unfortunately we’re pretty disappointed in it and now we found out we are unable to return it which really sucks. Thought we had 30 days to return it and wanted to give it the best chance that we might like it now I have a $350 item I don’t want

It’s pricey for a coffee pot but so worth it if you enjoy drinking coffee for more than just the caffeine. Takes the guess work out of brewing and consistently delivers a great cup of coffee. I also love the option to brew a quick cup without having to make an entire pot.

Bought this coffee maker about 6 months ago and I have been very happy with the purchase.
Makes a great cup of coffee, is easy to use, cleaning is easy, and is very convenient. The single serve cup is my go to method for a quick and delicious cup of coffee for my morning drive.

Absolute garbage. Excessively needy of pampering and attention and only after a few years of minimal use, the calibration no longer works. You would expect a bit better product at this price point. It’s a sad day when a Hamilton Beach out performs this “premium” maker. Do yourself a favor and get a nice burr grinder and a good drip maker and leave this one for the uninformed sheep.

This thing is crap that makes crap coffee. I feel like if they just gave this to a couple people to try for a little bit that they would figure out that it’s junk. The only reason breville can sell this is because there are so many Breville groupies that’ll buy anything Breville. I guess I was one of those but I hate using it. The coffee pot is junk you have to pour it upside down with the lid on and it still makes a mess. The reservoir holds more than the coffee pot so you’ll make 2 trips to the sink if you want 12 cups of coffee. Plus the coffee it produces isn’t very good. Hate it. Dave yourself the hassle of returning it because it takes up less space and just get the other breville coffee maker.

Makes good coffee and does the job. However, the carafe tends to drip from the spout after pouring. Also, there are grounds all over the place after brewing, needs a lot of daily wiping up.

I wanted this to be the best coffee machine I ever had but man o man, where to begin. After the 1st few days of using it I was really frustrated and was going to send it back to best best. Coffee was more water than coffee. Didnt matter the grind or brew setting, we even changed the brand of beans. Nothing helped. A quick youtube search and I found out how to calibrate the weight of the coffee and that fixed it, but only kinda. to get this machine to work I’ve been using it with the hopper lid off and guiding the beans into the front of the grinder to make sure it always has beans in on top of the acculle blades. There is no way the make this happen without manually doing so. So you can not pre-set it at night and let it just work like other brewers. If you can stand there and make sure it is feeding beans into the shot then it does make a real great cup, but again its kind of a pain. The clean up after every cycle isn’t that bad and I deal with pre-heating the craft, just letting my hottest water out of the tap run into the craft, while I clean out the last batch, BUT MAN O MAN NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Still thinking about taking it back or at least getting a cheap dripper as a backup when I don’t have time. O, speaking of time it does cycle rather quickly. So that’s a plus.

My Breville Grind Control Odyssey
Like a moth to the flame, my love for a good cup of coffee led me down the treacherous path of owning not one, not two, but three Breville Grind Controls. Yes, three. Each one was a siren, luring me in with promises of a perfectly brewed cup, only to dash my hopes against the rocky shores of malfunction and despair.
Our first dalliance with Breville was promising, like a summer fling. It lasted about a year before the basket started shedding parts like a dog in spring. The grinder, no matter how much we pampered it with cleaning, became as stubborn as a teenager refusing to do chores. Yet, we were seduced by its sleek look and the convenience of grind-and-brew all in one.
Undeterred, we waded back into the waters of Breville, buoyed by the belief that surely, this one would be different. Alas, it was not. The second one succumbed to the same ailments before it could even celebrate its first birthday. Breville, perhaps sensing our impending betrayal, sent us a replacement unit. It, too, died a slow, agonizing death, with the grinder grinding to a halt and parts falling off like a poorly made costume at a school play.
Still, we clung to hope, as one does to a dysfunctional relationship, because we had other Breville kitchen items. We liked the idea of a matching set, a cohesive narrative in our culinary life. So, we gave it one final shot. Purchased in February, by June it was déjà vu all over again. The grinder was on strike and the basket was a disaster zone.
Breville’s customer service suggested we return the unit for inspection and possible repair. The audacity! Were we expected to endure the coffee-less limbo while they tinkered with our machine? NOPE. We marched to a competitor, betrayal in our hearts, and began plotting the slow replacement of our other overpriced Breville gadgets.
In the end, I must implore you, dear reader, do yourself a favor and steer clear of this money pit. Let my tale of woe be a cautionary one: don’t waste your money on the Breville Grind Control.
